Singing Goat Farm Mission Statement
Our Commitment to Community, Nature, and Sustainability
At Singing Goat Farm, our mission is to cultivate fresh, locally, and sustainably grown vegetables for our friends, family, and community, while being equally committed to creating opportunities for beginning and underserved farmers through access to land, water, and essential equipment and infrastructure.
We grow/raise/produce:
We grow a wide variety of vegetables using organic practices. Among the crops we grow are: tomatoes, onions, potatoes, lettuce and other greens, summer and winter squash, cucumbers, beans, peppers, carrots, herbs, and flowers.
We employ:
Most of the work on the farm is done by volunteers who help plant and harvest in exchange for vegetables. There are several tenants on the farm that are transitioning from municipal or county based land access to their own farms through leases that give them access to land and the use of equipment and infrastructure to build their businesses.
We follow organic growing practices on our farm as do all tenants that farm with us. Taking care of the pollinators that help our vegetables grow is a very high priority for us so we take care to plant native trees and flowers throughout the farm to feed the bee that we host for a local bee keeper. Our seeds are sourced from a variety of organic seed producers like High Mowing, Seed Savers, and others. Our fields were designed in conjunction with NRCS to prevent erosion through the use of grass ways and directional planting. Tenants are encouraged to apply cover crop to the fields in the off season to further protect and grow the top soil.
